Cordyceps is a parasitic fungal colony descended from the Ophiocordyceps genus. According to modern accounts, climate change allowed it to adapt to infecting larger organisms, gradually taking control of their behavior. Those infected slowly lose their free will, becoming living hosts for the spreading spores. Even after death, their bodies may continue to move according to the fungus's will.
